Introduction To The Crypt
Like most horror fans, I’ve loved horror and all things scary and eerie since I can remember. I vaguely remember sneaking into my sister’s bedroom late one night to watch Halloween. Must have been around seven or eight at the time.
I probably managed to last around 30 minutes before retreating to bed with my tail between my legs. However it stuck with me.
Another huge influence a little while later was Are You Afraid of the Dark. I still honestly believe that it stands as one of the best Horror Anthology shows of all time. Despite the odd awful, awful episode…*cough* Hungry Hounds.
Before that was Goosebumps, both the original books and the show. And before that were generic children books, cassette tapes and shows I can hardly even remember these days. But you can guarantee many usually had a spooky theme or element involved.
I can’t remember exactly how or why the idea for this blog or website came about, but it has been floating around my head for a good few years at least, and has included a few false starts when I didn’t really have the time to maintain it. The ridiculous unachievable aim is to have a record of all Horror media for people to browse, read and learn about, discuss and so on. Once discussed, it’s placed in the Crypt.
Hopefully the site will be developed over time, and I have some vague potential ideas about things to do in the future. But for starters I’ll just try and discuss as many movies as possible, to rant about or gush over after watching. I will hopefully begin a timeline/history section very shortly, as that is also a huge interest of mine.
If you love horror, I hope you’ll come along for the journey and watch these with me. Be it for the 1st or even 100th time. And you never know, we may even have some fun and a couple of scares along the way.
